Duxford :: 29.IV.15 :: Avenger Down...

My journey to lunch was diverted by the Avenger being towed to H3 for 'storage' - quick snaps taken on my phone - no time was wasted in getting the aircraft in and doors closed...

"To me. To you. To me…"

Looking down while we can - we'll soon be looking up...

  1. Took a moment to realise where the Avenger was from.
    Nice to be able to see Mary Alice, or whatever she is now, for a change. Be nicer still if they towed her out on to the flight line and parked her next to another B-17 in a couple of months time but .....

    1. Maybe that's the plan Peter, it's handy for the door and has long as they don't 'plonk' anything in front of the doors you might get your wish. 'Lifted' a few shots Bob, I assume it's ok and have credited you as normal. Avenger and Mustang overhead 'snap' which someone on Flypast Hysterical would say is a 'cracking or lovely shot !! which it is. Gone to Ohio and my place. Ta,Gazza

  2. The B-24 is going into the Airspace 'floorspace' as well as the SR71, U2 (wings removed), F-111 and others - it will be a tight fit so don't hold your breath for a B-17 photo op!

  3. Hmm looking that way because if all the FL aircraft on the list appear there is not going to be much room I guess and oh look those nasty rope 'thingy's' have appeared to keep away 'Joe Public' touching non-flying aircraft and hurting themselves.

  4. Trouble is, "Joe Public" cannot resist touching things and they cannot differentiate between a static and airworthy machine - number of times I have had to 'advise' "Joes" not to poke or touch aircraft sat outside, when they have to drag stuff out - the latest was during the 15.IV.15 hangar moves. Caught one poking the fabric on the elevator of P9374 - I think he liked the drumming sound he made! Another thought that walking into a rudder was a good idea. Not sure if he tripped over the tow bar?…

    I think the idea is to allow viewing of the majority of AAM aircraft stored in Airspace during the 'refit' - obviously the B-52 and B-29 will be outside for a period of time but they will be 'stored' back in the AAM until everything that is going back in, does so...

    1. Not a lot going on today due to the high winds and heavy showers. The Dak has been lowered, was pushed out, but has been pushed back in to AAM. Guess nothing will happen until wind subsides...

  8. Bob, held the Avenger 'lift' until I get back from Virginia Beach because I want to add yours to the blog page/post of shots of the Fighter Factory example. I have seen their Avenger when I was at CWH Hamilton, but those shots were on a memory card which went 'duff' but I will include yours, honest !!
