RIP Uncle Arthur..

Today has been a long and hard day - when someone is around for 99 years you think they are invincible.
As a 'veteran' I was honoured to be asked to be a pallbearer and to accompany him on his last journey.
I will miss his recollections of life growing up, his time in WW2 in tanks (No.3 Squadron, 2nd (Armoured Reconnaissance) Battalion, Welsh Guards) which he loved to talk about but was rarely asked about), stories about local characters and long lost relatives.
An old African saying goes "When an old person dies the village loses a library".

Today I was there as this family library closed its doors...
