Lockdown lookback...
With IWM Duxford and all other IWM branches now closed until further notice due to the Covid-19 outbreak, having a thumb though some of the photos I have taken over the years.

The two 'ladies', P-51 "Contrary Mary" and P-47 "Nellie B" put on a spirited two-ship "Ultimate Fighters" display early on in the morning and the Hawker Fury SR661 went aloft for some flying to the NW...

Storm Ciara damages Airspace IWM Duxford
The roof of the Airspace "superhangar" at Duxford has fallen foul of storm damage again, almost 6 years on from when it last suffered at the hands of winter storms.
11/2/20 - Museum has now reopened to public and staff.
The museum is closed UFN and a one-mile exclusion zone has also been set up around the building, which has been deemed unsafe and the M11 has been closed until further notice, between J9 and 11 in both directions. Traffic using the A505 from Whittlesford and Fowlmere towards the M11 has also been affected.
UPDATE: 10/2/20 - M11/A505 now reopened.
March 2014 - repairs under way.

Hangarage Reportage 1/20
Wander around during lunch break...
Must have been a bit nippy flying in on/in the autogyro.
Sally B's new engine fitted to replace "Smokey Joe"? The transit crate waiting to take the old engine away?

Walkabout Wednesday...
Another quiet day on site - brief glimpse of Mk VIIIc ZX⦿M/MV154 / "MT928"/G-BKMI (ex D-FEUR) as a hangar shuffle took place. New prop in place and engine ground run - just awaiting air test before returning to 'full health'...
Sounds like it will be resident at DX going forward so hopefully more opportunities to snap it...

MJ271 RTB...
A truly monumental achievement in aviation 'milestones' and completed in technology from the 30/40's.
After 123 days/27,000 miles/22 countries and 4 continents, Spitfire MJ271 aka "The Silver Spitfire" has come home.

Almost home...
Almost 5 months after it's departure on "The Longest Flight", G-IRTY/MJ271 is due to return to the UK and Goodwood next week, weather/serviceability permitting, after successfully flying around the world.
Currently stopped in Friedrichshafen, very close to IWC HQ in Schaffhausen.

Monday Saunter
After five weeks of absence I took a saunter round a very quiet Duxford.
The Casa 2.111B/He 111H-16 is being prepped for the move to it's new home at Hawkinge. No photos allowed there due to "security reasons", so maybe the last time I'll get to snap it...
